This post is dedicated to Mike & Friends who have been cooking with us with so much fun.Thank you !

At Christmas ,Panettone is the essential dessert for many Italian families. The versions today are really many but personally I suggest buying it traditional, classic and then offer it with sauces that will satisfy the tastes of all friends and relatives.

Orange Sauce

The Orange sauce is the longest to be prepared,ca.10 minutes

2 eggs        70 gr./2 and ½ oz. sugar         200 ml. milk        1tsp. Vanillin /2 drops vanilla essence

1 pinch/1/2 tsp. fine salt        1 orange      1 tsp Strega liqueur

Tools: 2 small saucepans       wooden spoon      small strainer       small bowl  oranges  grater little knife

In the  saucepan, beat two egg yolks with the sugar, a pinch of salt and the vanilla.

Grate an orange. Add the orange zest to the eggs. Heat the milk. Add the milk to the sauce and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Absolutely do not let it boil. Pass it in a very fine colander .

Pour into a bowl and add the liqueur. Serve it with strips of orange peel

Then we have 4  creams extremely easy to make and realized  always with very typical ingredients you can substitute  with some flavour you particularly like.

Ingredients: 1 Panettone 250 ml/ 8 f oz Whipped cream

2 tsp. Nutella 3 tsp. Alkermes or red liqueur 1 espresso 2 tsp. peach jam

Whipped Cream

Mix the cream with 2 drops vanilla essence  in an electric mixer for 1 minute, add a spoonful of custard/confectioner’s/icing sugar, beating until the cream is consistent.

Pink sauce

Gently mix 2 tablespoons of whipped cream with 3 teaspoons of alkermes or other red liqueur

Nutella sauce

Put 2 teaspoons of Nutella for 30 seconds in the microwave

Gently mix 2 tablespoons of whipped cream with 2 teaspoons of Nutella. (perhaps not necessary with American Nutella)

 Espresso sauce

Gently mix 2 tablespoons of whipped cream with 1 cup of espresso coffee. If you want a more delicate flavor add vanillin

 Peach sauce

Gently mix 2 tablespoons of whipped cream with 2 teaspoons of not too solid peach jam.

Add a teaspoon of liqueur to taste

And don’t forget that  if-for a strange case- you have Panettone leftovers, you can make trifles with fruit, tiramisu, bases for various cake with them.
