In Italy, for the current year, the rate of recycling of packaging compared to release for consumption is expected to increase: the national result should reach 75%.
Italy is already a leader in Europe in this sector, with a per capita recycling of packaging that sees us in first place.
At the center of recycling activities there are citizens and companies that deal with correctly differentiating waste.
Separate collection, in fact, serves to lay the foundations for the recovery and recycling of materials.

Material recycling has no boundaries: almost anything can be recycled
What is recycled in Italy
The most recycled materials in Italy are aluminium, steel and plastic. Good figures also for glass recycling.

Glass
Glass recycling is characterized by a very cumbersome supply chain and therefore penalized by costs that, in some circumstances, may exceed the benefits obtained.
Other glass objects are obtained, usually bottles of the same color and properties as the starting one. From the collection of glass, however, not only more glass is obtained but also
insulating products for green building
Artificial turf
sand for golf courses
kitchen tables
sinks and other sanitary ware
Water filtration systems

Cork
Cork stoppers are a precious resource that can be transformed into insulating panels, floors and much more. Cork stoppers are very useful in the field of green building.
Aluminium
With 800 cans, an aluminum bike is produced.
With 37 cans, a coffee maker is produced. All coffee makers produced in Italy, about 7 million each year, are made of recycled aluminum. With 640 cans you produce a car rim.
With 3 cans you can make a pair of glasses.
Wood
Wood seems almost a timeless resource that, having reached its second, third or fourth life, can satisfy different market demands.
ELTs (end-of-life tyres)
The recycled ELTs provide for the preparation of football fields, silent asphalts, floors for gyms and sports centers… They can also give life to insulating panels useful in buildings, from the floor to the walls, up to the roof and floor.
Plastic
The data shows the amount of plastic waste recycled into other products or recovered for energy purposes. In the first case we mean the transformation of plastic waste into raw materials or secondary products In the second case we mean the conversion of plastic into reusable fuel as an energy source, as it is a material that generates calorific value

Isn’t it great how much we can do? Just throw the waste in the right bin.
And then give a new life to an object, as I was telling you about the small bottles we use for spices.
A small gesture. Let us hope that gestures will be more and more everyday !
Such an interesting article. Thanks for sharing.
