14 October 1894, Domenico Melegatti receives the Certificate of Industrial Property Ownership from the Ministry of Agriculture, Industry and Commerce of the Kingdom of Italy for having invented the name, shape and recipe of Pandoro.
According to family legend, a boy, faced with the first slice of the new dessert illuminated by a ray of sunlight, exclaimed in amazement:
“It really is a pan de oro! (golden bread)”.From there it started the Pandoro life in Italy.
Pandoro is a traditional Italian sweet bread, most popular around Christmas and New Year.
