Florence is beautiful in every season: so different from other towns in the world, it’s a kind of open museum so just walking there can be interesting. A few suggestion to enjoy it at its best:
You have just a few days in town? forget about visiting all of the museums, let’s do like the locals: Walk ,walk ,walk .
If you are used to be up early in the morning, let’s walk in Piazza della Signoria at 7 am when only the street cleaners are .Enjoy the total view of the place
Take a look at all the different house doors, look up to see how peculiar the ancient buildings are and those peculiar small wine doors to sell wine during Renaissance. It’s a kind of treasure hunting !
And look for the sign that reminds the November 4th,1966 flood of Arno river
Trying to understand better what Renaissance means and how people lived at that time, go and visit Palazzo Davanzati and from there walk to the Porcellino Market, to see the bronze fountain of a boar(it was even in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets), rub the boar’s snout to ensure a return to Florence
Turn your back and see Venchi shop, the chocolate place ,absolutely the chocolate place !!!
And then a visit to the San Ambrogio Food Market, where locals go food shopping
